I was told by one officer that those residents who live in Livingston should go to the East Orange office cos Livingston residents' coming hugely increase that "gentleman"'s workload, though he addressed that "I know the East Orange area is not safe or secure." Also, when I checked a text message from my phone, the officer said "stop using the phone, otherwise my manager - that blonde lady will come over and yell at you!" Sounds like a person who thinks he takes your case and can say whatever he wants. Such a shame that we pay tax and support a person like this in the social security office who supposed to serve residents, not abuse their right.
I never knew true bad customer service until I called this office and spoke to Mis Savina. She hung up on me twice then threatened to hang up on me if I didn't speak clearly. She gives more excuses as to why she can't help me then actually trying to help me. She says they can only talk on the phone for a short amount of time and can only answer simple questions and that I'd have to visit in person to discuss my case in detail. She refused to let me takk to a supervisor and just treats me like I'm bothering her and tries to get me off the phone instead of caring about helping me.
I went in person to update my last name due to marriage. They gave me a confirmation paper and said I would receive the new ss card in the mail. It has been two months and I never received the card. I called to check on the status and was told to go in person with my ID and they'll reprocess it. I specifically asked if I needed to fill out a new application or bring my marriage certificate. I was told no since they can see the original request in the computer. They even confirmed the request date. When I went in person I was told they can't reprocess because I need to fill out a new application and bring my marriage certificate. I was very disappointed because I called first just to make sure and I was still given the wrong information. Now I have to make another trip to the office. I hope this story will help someone avoid my horrible experience. Even if you call before going to the ss office, still make sure to bring everything. It's absurd that customer service is giving out wrong information.
Took my mother to submit original documents for verification of Medicare benefits. A week later she receives a replacement social security card in the mail, which was not the purpose of that visit. She is now on the phone waiting for an agent to speak with after verifying on the automated system that the documentation required was never reviewed/received. It most likely means another trip for us to an office to deal with incompetent government employees that can't do their job right while they sit nice and pretty and act rude to people that pay their salaries.
Fast and easy. They were very helpful.
